The cheap way to send photo cards
Printed photo cards from online card shops cost several dollars each once you add envelopes and shipping. A regular 5 × 7 or 4 × 6 photo print costs much less at a drugstore, supermarket or online photo lab, and looks just as good. Make the card here, save the JPG, and order it like any other photo print: turn off automatic cropping and borders so the text stays where you put it.
Tips for a great card
- Choose a photo with room at the bottom for the greeting, or use the layout with a band or a frame.
- Use zoom and position to keep faces away from the edges; photo labs cut a sliver off every side.
- Envelopes: 5 × 7 cards fit A7 envelopes (5¼ × 7¼ in). You can print the addresses on them or use Christmas address labels.
- Printing at home: use the PDF on matte photo paper or card stock; it has two cards per page with cut lines.
