Measurements from the manufacturer's layout, checked against its template drawing. The tool places the text inside each label with a safety margin, so a small printer offset does not cut it off.
What 5167 labels are for
The 5167 has 80 small labels of ½ × 1¾ in, four across and twenty down. They are made for return addresses: two or three short lines in about 6 to 7 point type. The usual way to use them is a full sheet of the same address, so this page starts in One address, full sheet mode.
How to print 5167 labels
- Type or paste your addresses in the box, one per block with an empty line between them, or import a CSV or contacts file.
- Check that the Label sheet is set to 5167, then choose the font, size and an optional picture.
- Download the PDF and print the first page on plain paper at 100% (Actual size). Hold it against a 5167 sheet up to the light.
- If it lines up, load the label sheets and print. If not, enter the difference under Printer adjustment.
Other product numbers with the same layout
According to Avery's own compatibility list, these sheets share the 5167 layout: 5267, 5667, 5967, 8167, 8667, 8867, 15667, 18167, 18667, 48267, 48467, 48867. Check the number on your pack; if it is not listed, compare the label size and the number of labels per sheet.
Labels that line up
- Print at 100%. In the print dialog choose Actual size, 100% or Custom 100, and turn off Fit to page or Fit to printable area. Scaling is the most common reason labels drift.
- Test on plain paper first. Hold the test page against a label sheet in front of a window. If everything is off by the same amount, enter it under Printer adjustment.
- Drift that grows down the page means the page was scaled or the paper fed at an angle. Check the 100% setting, and square the stack against the paper guide.
- Load the sheet the right way up. Most printers print on the side facing down in the tray, but many rear and manual feeds print on the side facing up. Mark a plain sheet with an X to find out.
- Use the right labels for your printer: labels for laser printers can smudge in an inkjet printer and the other way round. The pack says which printers it is made for.
